Léda Davies has been dancing for over 15 years. Originally a competitive Rhythmic Gymnast (National Team), she began her formal dance studio training in Ballet, Jazz and Modern dance at the age of 15.
After completing her BFA in Drama with a minor in Dance from the University of Calgary, Leda began refining her movement practice, focusing on contemporary dance and dance theatre. After graduation, Léda has been privileged to perform the works of Barbara Moore (Ballet & Modern), Valerie Campbell (Dance Theatre), Michèle Moss (West-African) and Pam Tzang (contemporary). Constantly seeking the truth behind the movement, her creative practice finds inspiration from techniques such as Viewpoints, Gabriel Roth’s 5 Rhythms, Authentic Movement, and Laban.
Her choreography has been presented as a part of the Feats Festival (Alberta Dance Alliance), the Annual Alberta Dance Festival (Dancer’s Studio West, Calgary, AB), the Fluid Movement Arts Festival (Springboard Dance, Calgary, AB), the High Performance Rodeo (Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre, Calgary AB), Ignite! Festival (Sage Theatre, Calgary, AB), Solocentric Festival (Calgary, AB), and the University of Calgary’s Dance Montage.
With her background in theatre Léda has been the privileged movement director for several companies in Calgary, specializing in fusing genres together including circus aerials, mask and puppetry.
